NAME: Morrigan
AGE: Around 30
CANON: Dragon Age: Inquisition
CANON POINT: After retrieving Kieran from Flemeth and returning to Skyhold
CRAU: N/a
OTHER: N/a
SUITABILITY:Morrigan has used sex and sexuality to seduce others before. She has had sex (presumably more than once!), given birth to a child, and doesn't find shame in it that others would. She's very open about acknowledging that she's an attractive and isn't above using it to make her way up the ranks if need be.
HISTORY: Firstly, her mother is Flemeth, the infamous "Witch of the Wilds" who was brutal in raising Morrigan to her expectations. Morrigan mentions witnessing her mother kidnapping men to "use them until they were spent" and then killing them. Her mother would often impress on Morrigan that this was her duty too and would be expected of her once she got old enough. She taught Morrigan how to wield her magic and control it, as well as how to manipulate men, and would break things that Morrigan loved to teach her that things like beauty and love were fleeting and best forgotten about.
Second was the introduction to the surviving Grey Wardens, Alistair and (in this World State), Mahariel, a Dalish elf. Morrigan was ordered by Flemeth to accompany them. While this was something of a dream come true, getting Morrigan out of the Wilds like she'd wanted, it came with a side of having to save the world from a Blight. While Morrigan learned more about the world she lived in and the people, she also fell in love with Mahariel, something she'd definitely not planned for. She did the Dark Ritual with Mahariel in order to trapped the archdemon's soul in the body of their unborn baby, thus sparring Mahariel from having to sacrifice himself in the final battle. She then left him and fled.
Third, the birth of her son Kieran. At first a means to an end, Morrigan grew to deeply love her child, softening her entire outlook and growing absolutely determined to NEVER be the mother to him that her mother was to her. She was determined to be a better person, and a better mother that he deserved.
ABILITIES: Morrigan is a mage, meaning she has access to a wide variety of magical skills, including some healing abilities. She can wield lightning, fire, and ice, as well as fire off shots of arcane energy like bolts. However this isn't in the Airbender sense, she can't control it quite like that. It's more like she can shoot lightning at someone, or create a barrier of ice or freeze water, do a blast of fire, etc.
However Morrigan's greatest magical ability lies in her rather rare ability to shapeshift into a variety of creatures. In Origins she can transform herself into a bear, a wolf, a giant spider, and a swarm of insects. Outside of gameplay she mentions becoming a cat, a fox, and can be seen shapeshifting into a crow in Inquisition.
She also is highly knowledgeable in herbalism to either creating healing potions or poisons.
VICES: 1. Sarcasm Oh boy is Morrigan sarcastic. Nearly every other line out of her mouth in her dialogues is dripping sarcasm, to the point of sometimes being quite mean. Growing up with only her mother for company, Morrigan never learned the social graces needed to interact with people in an every day setting. Even once she's grown up and learned to curb it somewhat, she's still dry, blunt, and uses sarcasm to draw a barrier between herself and others.
2. Selfishness. Morrigan puts her and her own needs first above others. Throughout the first game she shows massive disapproval hits when the player does things out of the kindness of their heart, refuses payments for things, or just generally is a nice guy "just because." She's grown up always with a "put yourself first" attitude and the belief that no one would ever have her back but herself. She withholds information that might be needed to make informed decisions if she thinks revealing it means a decision she doesn't want.
3. Thirst for power. Morrigan wants to know everything possible about magic and power. She craves power and will go to many lengths to get it, including the Dark Ritual to get pregnant so she can have the archdemon's soul for unknown purposes. In Inquisition she helps lead the Inquisitor to the Well of Sorrows, a place of great power. If one drinks from the well, they gain the knowledge and power of the elves that have passed their knowledge on into the Well. She pleads her case to the Inquisitor, wanting to be the one to drink from the well. Even when told about the consequences that might come with it, Morrigan only scoffs and states she's not afraid of the consequences and would bare the cost no matter what it was. Presumably she wants this power to take down her mother and/or protect herself from her mother's body snatching.
VIRTUES: 1. Curiosity A thirst for power has come with a thirst for knowledge. Morrigan wants to know everything she can about lore, myth, history, etc. and is always curious about others lives and decisions. She loves to ask 'why?' and then discover the answers herself. Though her methods might not be overly subtle nor kind, she always wants to get to the bottom of things. In that vein, she loves to share knowledge as well, always pleased to have an audience to listen to her talk about her theories.
2. Protective Once you gain Morrigan's loyalty, it's yours'. No matter what anyone might say otherwise, Morrigan will have your back and will be ready to defend you from others, whether it be from physical attacks or otherwise. She's also highly protective of her son; despite originally seeing him as only a means to an end, she came to genuinely love the boy and wants to nurture his growth. She wants to provide him with a more stable upbringing in society and with all the love and warmth Morrigan's mother had never shown her. In the confrontation with Flemeth in Inquisition, Morrigan is willing to give up her will and serve Flemeth/become her next vessel/whatever it is she wishes so long as Flemeth will leave Kieran alone. Considering most of Morrigan's motivations and everything she'd done up until that point had been in preparation of denying giving her body up as a vessel to Flemeth, this is a huge step for Morrigan.
3. Independent Since she was a child, it's implied Morrigan has been more-or-less taking care of herself. She's resourceful and able to navigate the world without help from anyone, and in general doesn't like to ask for it. She isn't dependent on others for anything, whether it for survival or just for help. Therefore, she'll never hold anyone back and will always encourage independence in others, wanting them to think for themselves and reach conclusions on their own. She doesn't want to be beholden to anyone. As mentioned above, she has spent her entire life learning magic and drawing as much power and knowledge as she can to outwit her mother and to stop her mother from taking over her body so she can continue to be functionally immortal. Morrigan would, under most circumstances, rather die than let this happen.
SUIT REQUESTS: 1. Hearts. Morrigan is a proud woman with a careful control over her emotions (the notable exception being anything to do with her mother or son). It'd be fun to paly with something that would prey on the emotional side she tries to repress and force them to be out in the open. Forcing her to confront things like the desire for companionship, or the desire to just be physically affectionate with someone as opposed to just having sex, etc. would make her SO mad, but also force her to confront these parts of herself she tries to shove out of the way due to her self-preservation.
2. Clubs. Much like the above, I enjoy challenging Morrigan's self-control. Morrigan is independent and doesn't like to lose control of herself, and certainly doesn't like to give in to outward thoughts. Mages spend most of their life pushing back against demons who want to invade their dreams and tempt their minds, so Morrigan would have to have the mental fortitude to repel all of these attacks normally. Having her thoughts turn on her and make her act recklessly when she wouldn't normally, being irrational or confessing secrets when she would normally keep it bottled up, is an interesting way to explore and force Morrigan to open up to others.
